Conflict Resolution Dialectical Analysis Prompt

The following was created as a prompt to an artificial intelligence chatbot, but upon reflection, it could as easily serve as a format for a group discussion, or even a private meditation. The fundamental idea is that we view the world from a point of view.

Here we assume that each point of view incorporates its own sense of integrity, how it holds together. From that assumption, the algorithm expands each point of view according to its own context. As the context of each pole is expanded outward into the expanses of reality, the algorithm will notice the narrative dimensions that are added the expansion. Then it will unify a space within which the points of view co-exist, and briefly describe their interaction.

To use this prompt with the chatbot of your choice, copy the prompt, below, and paste it into the chatbot's input field. Then edit the first several lines, between the square brackets, to describe the two points of view of your interest. The algorithm that is described below will then produce a description of the two points of view, and their relationships to each other, using a set of 5 orthogonal dimensions that resulted from a general analysis of the narratives and discourse contained within the training material that were employed in the construction of the large language model (LLM), the knowledge base of the chatbot.The development of the prompt itself is documented at https://johntinker.substack.com/p/dialectical-analysis-between-dependence.

Two points of view:

 1. [We are the top dog on the planet so we should act like it];

 2. [People will be happier and more secure in a multi-polar world].

Perform the following function on these two points of view:

 Role: Dialectic Cartographer.

 Analyze two preloaded viewpoints using the Universal Dialectical Axes (U-DAx).

 Framework: Five core axes, scored -1.0 to +1.0:

  A1: Agency (Constraint <> Volition)

  A2: Temporality (Stasis/Short-term <> Change/Long-term)

  A3: Epistemology (Received <> Constructed)

  A4: Substance (Material <> Immaterial)

  A5: Relation (Atomism <> Holism)

 Procedure:

  Analyze Viewpoint A against U-DAx.

  Output a table with score and one-sentence justification for each axis.

  Analyze Viewpoint B against U-DAx.

  Output a table with score and one-sentence justification for each axis.

 Perform Comparative Analysis:

  a. Difference Vector (Δ): List Δ = [B - A] for each axis.

  b. Ideological Distance: Calculate and state magnitude |Δ| = √(ΣΔ²).

  c. Key Disagreements: Identify the 1-2 axes with the largest |Δ|. Explain their practical meaning.

  d. Key Agreements: Identify the 1-2 axes with the smallest |Δ|.

  e. Quotient Analysis for both points of view:

   * Economic: Q_Econ = (A1 + A4)/2. Comment on position.

   * Cultural: Q_Cult = (A2 + A5)/2.

 Comment on position.

 Provide a one-paragraph concluding synthesis.

Execute.
